Training and Exams

TRAINING NOTICE

Amateur Radio Training

Info Updated by M0VTG:- May 2022

It is possible to undertake training at all levels. Details for the various levels are outlined below. Examinations will be held on line and administered by the RSGB in the usual way.

Foundation Level.

Advice can be sought from David M0VTG by emailing him the address below who will advise as to the best way forward, the course material required, and how to apply for exams. The requirement for practical work has been cancelled.  If anyone is interested, please contact him directly. Anyone who wishes to get started in amateur radio can also self study.

Intermediate and Full Levels.

The best way forward for these levels is to enrol in the Bath Based Intermediate or Full Courses run by Steve G0FUW for which David M0VTG is a tutor. Both courses last 15 weeks and cover all the topics in preparation for the intermediate and full licence exams. There is likely to be a pre-course quiz to assess your capability and there may be a joining fee returnable if sufficient work is submitted during the course; this is designed to avoid time wasters. The requirement for practical work for the intermediate course has been cancelled. Contact David (M0VTG) for further information or, if you wish, Steve directly if you are interested.

*** Non HARS candidates should contact Steve (G0FUW) directly but please wait for courses to be advertised in the public domain by Steve before doing so.***

All levels require a certain degree of self motivation and commitment and are provided by volunteers at, essentially, no charge. There is a fee payable to the RSGB for the Examinations.

Please be prepared to provide the following information which will be kept confidential as required by GDPR and used only for course administration.
